GIVE ME THE SIMPLE LIFE

Psalm 23:1a

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want . . .

The Bible promotes the virtues of a simple life, emphasizing the importance of concentrating on what matters most, the essentials like God, family, friends, love, faith, and kindness, while avoiding distractions such as finances, possessions, worry, or anxiety. Remember, simplicity isn't merely about possessing less; it's about nurturing a heart that relies on God and delights in His blessings.

Embracing simplicity allows us to find rest and place our trust in God. Psalm 23:1 states, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want," assuring us that God will provide for our needs. By following Him, we can let go of our worries and the pursuit of more, and live peacefully with the knowledge that God is guiding us.

In a world full of noise, busy schedules, and pressure to have more, the Bible invites us to slow down and live with a heart of simplicity. It encourages us to put God first, be content with what we have, and love others generously. Simplicity is not just about owning fewer things; it is about having more time, peace, and joy in God. Remember what we said on Tuesday? The Spiritual Discipline of Simplicity allows us time to sit at the table and really taste the goodness of God.

When we live simply, we are free to focus on what truly matters, our relationship with God and with the people around us.

Simplicity might feel like it doesn't mesh with your busy life or schedule. No matter what your situation or how packed your calendar is. Just start with small steps and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to identify aspects of your life that you can simplify. It is achieveable.
