HE STANDS READY

Haggai 1:8

8Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the Lord.

Philippians 1:6

6And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Isaiah 30:21

21Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.

Micah 6:8

8No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

He Stands Ready

I read this yesterday and it really struck me just how awesome God is. "Years before God expected His people to rebuild His temple, He caused trees to grow in the hills nearby. The stone, the timber—everything they needed to do what God commanded them to do had already been provided for them." God doesn’t ask us to do things that He doesn’t stand ready to provide the help, resources, and encouragement we will need to obey. Keep that truth in your mind.

God gave them a three-step plan to obey:

  1. Go to the mountain.
  1. Bring down the timber.
  1. Build my house.

The one thing that was needed, then and now, was a response of Trust and Obedience.

REFLECT

  • What are the immediate steps you need to take to obey what God is calling you to do?
  • What are some practical ways you’ll make God’s work your priority? Write a list, and put it on your fridge.
  • Do something for someone else or for the church instead of yourself this week. Then, make it a new habit.

PRAY

Holy Spirit, we’re going to need Your help to see where our lives need remodeling. God, we need Your strength to stay dedicated to the work You’re doing in and through us. Will You come today and refresh our passion. AMEN

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord.
